• The Squeakquel to 2007’s Alvin and the Chipmunks outperforms the first film and becomes the second highest grossing film in Dec despite releasing on 25th Dec! It took £5.3m in its first weekend compared to £1.4m for the first film and pushes its #2 predecessor, 2012, out of the top 10.
• Guy Ritchie’s latest offering Sherlock Holmes enters the box office @ #3 taking £8.6m in the 8 days of Dec it was released. It pushes A Christmas Carol down to #4.
• Despite releasing at the beginning of November the Christmas spirit kept viewers keen to watch A Christmas Carol with it taking a further £8.5m in Dec taking its total earnings up to £20.1m.
• Twilight moves down to #5 in the Dec box office top 10 and pushes Up out completely. It took £5.9m in Dec taking it’s total to £26.8m (already 2.4 times more than the total run of the first film).
