• Cinema admissions for January stood at 14.5m, a fantastic increase of 7.7% year on year.

• The moving annual total stands at 165.3m, 2.1% up on the MAT this time last year

• The average weekly admissions figure for January was 3.27m an increase of 7.57% on average weeks in Jan

• There is little surprise in the top grossing film of January, as Slumdog Millionaire takes top spot taking £13.6m in Jan alone. We now know that it's taken £22m to date (23 rd Feb) and has scooped 8 Oscars  

• January tends to be a glum month but both #'s 2 & 3 in the box office have provided giggles in the first month of the year. Role Models has grossed £7m whilst Yes Man moves up from the 5 th position in Decembers charts to 3rd, taking £6.2m in Jan alone

• Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson provided a bit of light entertainment in the form of Bride Wars taking £6.2m entering the box office for the month at number 4.

• And in fifth place, Australia hasn't really turned into the epic it was billed as, only taking £5.2m in January..
