Cinema admissions for May stood at 12.8m , a decrease of -18.8% on May 2009
This is due to strong performances in 2009 of blockbusters such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Angels & Demons and Night at the Museum 2.
The moving annual total (rolling 12 months) stands at 173.9m, -0.1% down on this time last year.
The average weekly admissions figure for May were 2.89m a decrease of -18.82% on average weeks in May 2009.
Last months #1, Clash of the Titans moves out of the top ten and the top spot is taken by Iron Man 2. Releasing @ the end of April it took £18.3m in May and has taken £19.9m to the end of May.
The fantastic How to Train Your Dragon drops to #9 this month and is replaced by the slightly dodgy accent of Robin Hood which has taken £12.1m to date.
Despite releasing in the final days of May, Sex and the City 2 enters the monthly box office @ #3 taking £7.4m in its opening weekend.
Streetdance 3D sees those Britains Got Talent kids make it to #4 taking £5.9m in the last 10 days of May.
Rather disappointingly Prince of Persia only just makes it into the top 5. Taking £4.5m, it is only £1m ahead of #6 the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street!
