Cinema admissions for April stood at 9.8m, down 10.2% year on year.

•  The average weekly admissions figure for April was 2.29m.

•  Weekend of the 4 th April proved to be the highest of the month due to the releases of 27 dresses the previous week. There were no huge releases this month and films released in March continued to take money.

•  The highest grossing film of the month actually opened on March 28 th . 27 Dresses, starring the gorgeous Katherine Heigl took £4.7m in April.

•  21 was the 2 nd highest film in April. Based on the true story of card counters in Vegas, the thriller starring Kevin Spacey took £4.65m in April

•  There is just no stopping the dance craze at the moment as Step Up 2 remains in the top 5 for a 2 nd month, taking £4.4m in April alone

•  Dropping from the top post in March to fourth place in April, The Spiderwick Chronicles is still continuing to pull in the family crowds taking a further £4.4m in April

•  In fifth place, the Quirky British Comedy from the director of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy , Son of Rambo takes an impressive £3.9m in April.
