The average weekly admissions figure for January was 3.10m.
February 2008 admissions are being compared to February 2007 which saw the release of Brit hit, Hot Fuzz .
One of the highest opening films of the month opened on 1 st Feb. Cloverfield , the most recent monster extravaganza entered the top spot by taking £9.3m in February.
Nicolas Cage returned this month as Ben Gates, the patriotic history fanatic trying to clear his family name in National Treasure: Book of Secrets . Taking £7.8m it becomes the 2 nd largest film of the month.
The indie surprise hit and critically acclaimed film Juno released 8 th Feb. Entering third place and taking £7.5m, the story of a teenage girl and her pregnancy won its writer, Diablo Cody, an Oscar for best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen, in this years academy awards.
Hayden Christiansen and Jamie Bell “jumped” onto the cinema screen in fourth place with Jumper . The film which has been praised for its special effects took £6.7m in February.
In fifth place, Sweeney Todd carries on its January success taking a further £4.6m.
