The highest opening film of the month opened on 21 st March. The Spiderwick Chronicles, the most recent release from Director Mark Water (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday) entered the top spot by taking £5.9m in March.
With the popularity of Dancing with the Stars, Dancing on Ice, So you think you can dance, I'd do anything, Strictly Come Dancing etc. etc… Step Up 2: The Streets became somewhat of a surprise hit taking £5.8m in March
The family film, Horton Hears a Who , took £5.5m in its first week and a half (released 21 st March). In comparison, How The Grinch Stole Christmas took £7.1m in it's first 2 weeks (December 00) and The Cat In The Hat took £5.5m in it's first 2 weeks (April 04).
A stellar cast pulled in £5.3m for Vantage Point. Forest Whittaker, Matthew Fox, Dennis Quaid and Sigourney Weaver starred in this thriller of “8 Strangers. 8 points of view. 1 truth”!
