Cinema admissions for September stood at 9.6m up 12.6% year on year.
The average weekly admissions figure for September was 2.24m.
Year to date admissions are currently 12.4% up year on year at 126m.
Q3 admissions are 49.2m, up 23.4% year on year.
Based on the novel by Ian McEwan and starring Keira Knightley, Atonement hits the number one spot for September with £8.5m.
In second place was the comedy Run, Fat Boy, Run which took £7.8m. The story of a chunky, clueless guy who tries to win back his first true love.
The Bourne Ultimatum continued to do well into September taking a further £6.9m during the month making it the third biggest film.
With £4.8m Superbad was in fourth place. The film tells the story of two co-dependent high school seniors who are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry.
Released towards the end of August, Knocked Up was the fifth biggest film with £4.4m.
