• Cinema admissions for September stood at 10.7m, an increase of a massive 10.9% year on year.


• A strong September has brought the year-to-date to admission figures to 125,351,739 which is just 0.6% down on same time last year.

 

• The average weekly admissions figure for September was 2.49m.

 

• The highest grossing film of the month was the movie of the year - Mamma Mia! It took £8.4 in Sep (it's third month at the top of the box office)  

 

•  The Duchess provided the older and ABC1 audiences with respite from the big blockbusters taking £5.9m and becoming the 2 nd highest grossing film of September.

 

•  A ‘blacked' up Robert Downey Jnr provided the laughs in Tropic Thunder in at number 3 taking £5.4m in the last 2 weeks of September.

 

•  Mr ‘ex' Madonna, Guy Ritchie's latest brit gangsta film, Rocknrolla took £4.8m to make it the 4 th largest film of September.

 

•  In fifth place, Will Ferrell's Step Brothers took £4.5m despite being released in August.
